Internal Steering Committee

Members of the Internal Steering Committee are chosen for their expertise in mentoring, their leadership at UMMC and for their scientific expertise. They are leaders of major research units at UMMC and help to develop strong liaisons between the Center and other key research units.

	John E. Hall, PhD, is the Director of the Mississippi Center for Obesity Research and the Arthur C. Guyton Professor and Chair of the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at UMMC.
	April Carson, PhD, is the Director and PI of the Jackson Heart Study. She is also a professor in the Department of Medicine at UMMC.
	Barbara Alexander, PhD, is the Director of the Analytical and Assay Laboratory and a Billy S. Guyton Distinguished Professor in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at UMMC.
	Jane F. Reckelhoff, PhD, is a Billy S. Guyton Professor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics and the Director of the Women's Health Research Center at UMMC.
	Erin Taylor, PhD, is the Director of the Omics, Bioinformatics, and Flow Cytometry Core and Assistant Professor of Physiology & Biophysics at UMMC.
	Gene L. Bidwell III, PhD, is Associate Vice Chancellor for Research. He is also a Professor and Research Division Chief in the Department of Neurology, as well as Professor of both Cell & Molecular Biology and Pharmacology at UMMC.
	Joey Granger, PhD, is the former Dean of the School of Graduate Studies in the Health Sciences, Director of the Mississippi Center for Clinical and Translational Research (MCCTR), and a Professor of Physiology in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at UMMC.
	James Rowlett, PhD, is the Co-Director of the Center for Innovation and Discovery in Addictions and Professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior at UMMC.
	David Stec, PhD, is the Director of the Transgenic Core, Director of the Cardiovascular-Renal Research Center, and Professor of Physiology & Biophysics at the UMMC
